Talking

My son has delayed speech and I can't help but think that people think that its my fault.

I am sick to death of explaining to people that he doesn't have much speech and that its coming along slowly, for them to look at me and make some sort of comment about playing with him more, talking to him more or just generally doing what we do with him everyday.

It winds me up something chronic. He doesn't speak because when he was a baby he couldn't hear properly because his ears where bunged up full of wax which my doctor and health visitor wheren't interested in doing anything about. Now his ears are cleared and he passed his hearing test :-) his speech is starting to come through.

It takes time, he isn't going to catch up overnight and I cannot make him speak, he has to want to do it!!
